509 has issued a recall on three populations of 509 and 509 for Polaris branded helmets, which are identified below, as the helmets may not provide sufficient protection in the event of a crash, posing an increased risk of head injury. Please review all information below to determine if you have an affected helmet. If you have an affected helmet, please stop using the affected helmet immediately and follow the instructions outlined.

509 and 509 for Polaris Tactical 3.0 Helmets
What is the issue?
509 has determined that 509 Tactical 3.0 helmets (Youth, Mountain, and Trail helmets) and 509 for Polaris Tactical 3.0 helmets (Youth and Mountain) fail to comply with some marked certification standards and may not provide sufficient protection in the event of a crash, posing an increased risk of head injury.

To identify an affected 509 or 509 for Polaris Tactical 3.0 helmet, look for the following:
- Helmet includes "Tactical 3.0" printed on it.
- Certification tag on the chin strap begins with “06301125”

The 509 Tactical 3.0 helmets were sold in sizes youth small (YSM), youth medium (YMD), and youth large (YLG), and adult sizes extra small (XS), small (SM),medium (MD), large (LG), extra-large (XL), extra-extra-large (2X), extra-extra-extra-large (3X), and extra-extra-extra-extra-large (4X), and the following color combinations: galaxy(black/pink/teal/purple), black ops (black/gray), legacy (black/white), lemon pop (yellow/green),orange pop (yellow/orange/red), and stormchaser (white/gray). The helmets have "Tactical 3.0" printed on the back of the helmet (opposite side of the visor) below the 509 logo.
Recalled 509 Tactical 3.0 Helmets

Actions for consumers affected by Tactical 3.0 helmet recall:
Consumers with a recalled 509 branded helmet should contact 509 toll-free at 877-743-3509 for instructions on how to participate in the recall and to receive a choice of a refund (if purchased online) or a credit to be used on 509’s website.
Consumers with a recalled 509 for Polaris branded helmet should contact Polaris toll-free at 800-765-2747 for a choice of a refund or a credit to use at a Polaris dealership or on the Polaris website.
All helmets should be discarded in the local household trash after consumers have confirmed their helmet is being recalled by 509 or Polaris and follow the destruction instructions.
509 and 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 Helmets
What is the issue?
509 has determined that small and medium size only 509 Tactical 2.0 helmets, 509 Tactical 2.0 helmets with Fidlock®, and 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 helmets, which were manufactured in 2023, may not provide sufficient impact protection in the event of a crash, posing an increased risk of head injury.
Is my helmet affected by the recall?
To identify an affected 509 or 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 helmet, look for the following:
- Helmet includes "Tactical 2.0" printed on it.
- Certification tag on the inside of the helmet with a manufacturing date within 2023.
- Size tag indicating "S" or "M" attached to the certification tag on the inside of the helmet
If your helmet matches the above, follow the actions outlined below.
If your Tactical 2.0 helmet is not affected above, but has a Fidlock® magnetic buckle chin strap, follow the actions outlined below.

The affected 509 Tactical 2.0 helmets were manufactured in 2023 and were sold in sizes small (SM) and medium (MD) and the following color combinations: Black Legacy (black), Black Ops (black/gray), Racing Red (black/red), Sharkskin (blue/red), Emerald (teal/black), Orange (orange/black), Dusty Rose (pink/black), Stormchaser (white/gray), Black Gum (black and gold), Black legacy (black). The products have "Tactical 2.0" printed on the back of the helmet (opposite side of the visor) below the 509 logo.
Recalled 509 Tactical 2.0 SM/MD Helmets

The affected 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 helmets were manufactured in 2023 and were sold in sizes small (SM) and medium (MD) and the following color combinations: Blue, Black, Orange/Black/Gray, White/Red/Blue. The products have "Tactical 2.0" printed on the back of the helmet (opposite side of the visor) below the 509 logo. The size and manufacture date are printed on the label stitched on the inside of the helmet.
Recalled 509 for Polaris Tactical 2.0 SM/MD Helmets

509 and 509 for Polaris Helmets with Fidlock®
What is the issue?
509 has determined that on certain 509 and 509 for Polaris branded helmets with Fidlock®, including Tactical 2.0 (not included in Tactical 2.0 Helmet Recall), Altitude 2.0, Delta R3L, Delta R4, Delta V, Mach III, Mach IV, and Mach V (manufactured from 2020 to present with a stainless steel glide bar), the webbing on the chin strap may not be routed correctly. An incorrectly routed chin strap could allow a retention buckle separation in the event of a crash and may not provide sufficient protection in the event of a crash, posing an increased risk of head injury.
Is my helmet affected?
Certain 509 and 509 for Polaris branded helmets with Fidlock®, including Tactical 2.0 (not included in Tactical 2.0 Helmet Recall), Altitude 2.0, Delta R3L, Delta R4, Delta V, Mach III, Mach IV, and Mach V (manufactured from 2020 to present with a stainless-steel glide bar) may be affected.

509 Mach III helmets:
509 Mach III helmets were sold in sizes extra small (XS), small (SM), medium (MD), large (LG), extra-large (XL), and extra-extra-large (2X), and the following color combinations: Blacktop (gray/black) and Zenith (black/gray). The products have "Mach III" printed on the back of the helmet below the 509 logo.
509 Mach IV helmets:
509 Mach IV helmets were sold in sizes extra small (XS), small (SM), medium (MD), large (LG), extra-large (XL), and extra-extra-large (2X), and the following color combinations: Black, Gray, and Renegade (black/red). The products have "Mach IV" printed on the back of the helmet below the 509 logo.
509 Mach V helmets:
509 Mach V helmets were sold in sizes small (SM), medium (MD), large (LG), extra-large (XL), extra-extra-large (2X), and extra-extra-extra-large (3X), and the following color combinations: Blacktop (gray/black), Burner Red, Renegade (black/red), Circuit Orange, Gunmetal (gray), Racing Red, Redline (red), and Patriot (red/white/blue). The products have "Mach V" printed on the back of the helmet below the 509 logo.

Actions for consumers affected by helmets with Fidlock® recall:
Consumers should inspect the webbing on the chin strap using the owner’s manual addendum, which is accessible here and watch instructional video.
Once complete and it is confirmed that webbing on the chin strap is routed correctly, the helmet can continue to be used. Continue to follow the instructions to confirm that the webbing on the chin strap is routed correctly each time you use your helmet.
If you are unable to reroute the strap properly, contact the 509 customer support team at 877-743-3509 or the Polaris customer support team at 800-765-2747.
Failure to follow these instructions may lead to injury.

Number of affected 2.0 helmets: approximately 4,590 globally
Number of affected 3.0 helmets: approximately 3,910 globally
Number of Fidlock® impacted helmets: approximately 233,500 globally
Number of incidents: No reports of injury have been identified in connection with the Tactical 2.0 and Tactical 3.0 helmet recalls. One report of injury has been identified in connection with helmets with Fidlock® recall.

Dealers are being notified to stop selling the affected helmets and to contact known consumers directly to advise them to stop using the affected helmets.
The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has been informed.
*On February 5, 2025, 509 initiated a recall of Tactical 3.0 helmets following notification to the CPSC. On April 21, 2025, 509 initiated a recall of Tactical 2.0 helmets following notification to the CPSC. On May 1, 2025, 509 initiated a recall of certain helmets with Fidlock® following notification to the CPSC.
