"The helmet is tight to put on but fits well when its on. I believe the ear cups may be more on the gimmicky side although I might just need to adjust them to get the full effect but regardless its not a loud helmet in my experience. For reference I'm riding an FTR with the toce system so it's definitely not a quiet bike. I would definitely jump on it while its on sale if you're considering it. Also as for the cardo it's definitely in my opinion the best comms on the market. It is loud enough at full volume that my wife could hear it while I was wearing the helmet from probably 10 to 15 feet away."

A little disappointed for the price I paid.
"It's just okay. I'm a fair bit disappointed due to a few issues that came out-of-box. The top of the helmet screams when you have the windshield up. The slide button the opens and closes the vent on my right side is very spongy, seemingly doesn't give me the tactile response indicating whether or not it successfully opened or closed. The air bladders don't stay inflated after pumping, and I made sure the pressure release button wasn't stuck. The right side speaker driver is rattling. On the plus side, is a comfortable helmet. It doesn't weight too much for all the tech its packing, and it's warm. Maybe a but too warm. Makes a good fall/winter riding helmet. I get tons of positive attention and compliments on the helmet. To be completely honesty though, I probably won't end up buying another from 509, unless these issues are fix. $700-800 to have these issues is unacceptable to me. I want to love it, I really do, but man it kind of feels like a punch in the gut."
"So far so good. The directions/owners manual opens up into a giant diagram poster so expect that. Also, the owners manual really only focuses on the cardo manual so i had to figure out how to add and relief air pressure to the speaker padding. Once I figured that out, the helmet fits well. I also paired it with their photochromatic visor aaaaand that doesnt seem to be working well so far but its day 1"
"Giving two stars because of the sizing. I shouldnt need a 3xl in order for my ears to not feel like they're being torn off. You might say I just need smaller cheek pads but I tried putting the 2xl helmet on with no cheek pads and I still felt actual pain just trying to put it on or take it off. Is it not possible to just make the helmet wider without making it longer?"
Stylish, featureful helmet with many flaws
"I really like the Mach V Commander overall and really want to like it more but I have a few problems with the helmet overall. The looks and features are great but I wish the chase light was brake modulated and the side reflectors weren't just reflectors. I don't have any problems with fogging up and think the venturi system works well overall and love the fighter pilot vent looks they provide. The gold "mirrored" visor is not really mirrored at all and some older video reviews feel like they were given actual mirrored visors for show compared to what is currently offered. The sizing is very difficult to nail down and I even though I stepped down a size and had to wait for the return and new helmet, I am still looking into getting a smaller padding size to get a tighter fit. My biggest problems with the helmet after a fair bit of use is that the wind noise is REALLY bad once you get up to around 60. It is much more prominent than I anticipated compared to my Sedici Strada III, which has much tighter padding but still a bit of wind noise of its own, and the vents to absolutely nothing opened or closed. I'm glad I did to the exchange as the original helmet I received had a messed up air pump for the ear cups, though even when the ear cups are pumped up to create a decent seal, they still do almost nothing for the wind noise either. Coming from a Strada III, which has rather thick padding around the head and the cheek pads, the Mach V padding feels almost paper thin and honestly does not feel very protective at all. It is not uncomfortable, even with its larger weight, but the padding definitely should be thicker and safer. It also does not offer MIPS protection and after contacting 509 they said they had no intention of making MIPS integrated pads that you might be able to swap into your helmet. The audio quality is very disappointing for my first experience with a Cardo. The speakers do indeed sound very "tinny" compared to those in my Strada III and once up to highway speeds, the audio is really drown out by the wind noise. In addition, at highway speeds the microphone is almost useless. I have made a bluetooth call and my friend said I sounded "fine" when standing in a parking lot but I have yet to do a group ride such that other people can describe how I sound while actually riding. I can say that at highway speeds the microphone does not pick up your voice enough to perform voice free commands, even with the microphone sensitivity cranked up to max in the Cardo app. Getting it to recognize a "Hey Google" command while riding on the highway is almost impossible even when screaming and if by some chance you can get it to activate, it isn't going to properly pick up the command you follow with. I would also like to say I am VERY unhappy that I just paid $750 for the helmet to get on the site now looking at helmet padding and happen to see it discounted to $600. I really love the look and style of the helmet and built in features. I still think it is an overall great helmet but the audio system has really disappointed me as it is one of the main selling points of the helmet and a large reason for it's high price tag. Would I recommend the Mach V Commander? Perhaps, but maybe go with the standard Mach V and install your own comm system, sadly you would lose out on the sleekness of having it streamlined to the helmet though."

Q&A
- How does the light in the back work? It’s not a break light is it? Just curious on the functionality.
- Hello! The chase light is not a break light, it functions more in the capacity of a light that you either have on all the time while you are riding or off. Hope this helps!
- i have a 2023 HD road glide with WHIMS. Will it pair and be able to use voice commands and all functions same as the HD branded Packtalk edge?
- Hey Kent, it will pair to your Harley's Bluetooth via Bridge (instructions included in manual). Easier pairing will also be included in a Cardo firmware update in September. Most voice commands should be similar, but you can refer to the exact voice commands in the manual.
- I know the integrated com is Cardo, does that mean it can use the Cardo app controls like the stand alone Cardo units to be able to provide more precise control of things like group connections?
- Hey John, while some features are limited, yes you can connect to the Cardo app for added functionality.
- How do I get the red orange face shield thing on helmet?
- Hey Rey, you can find a walkthrough on how to change the shield on our YouTube channel - 509 University - [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5lHupbdWNk&list=PLe5iUKQ_3--H9vpPoRIS8rjXpt4rR7BzG&index=6](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a5lHupbdWNk&list=PLe5iUKQ_3--H9vpPoRIS8rjXpt4rR7BzG&index=6)
- Does this have a pin lock?
- Hey John, no - our Commanders do not have pin lock.
