Reviews

Poor sound, difficult buttons for operation.

"The helmet its self is pretty nice. The buttons are a little hard to use with gloves on, and the sound quality of the headphones are what I expected. Tho I was told that they can be upgraded. For the cost I expected better quality."

Fits well, Stands out from the rest

"I’ve gotten a couple rides in with this helmet. Everywhere I go, I stand out from the rest of the crowd. The paint and carbon fiber look amazing person. Having music in the helmet is a game changer, everything has worked flawlessly. The chase light is bright, and airflow is good when the vents are open. I just wish more tinted shield options were in stock!"

Helmets nice heated shield sucks

"Helmet and sound system is awesome but…The connection from the shield to the helmet goes bad often. I’ve replaced it 3xs now along with a buddy doing his within 12 hours of use. Was told a 509 rep was going to can’t me and haven’t herd a thing."

Cody L. (3/5)

Tight fit with speakers

"Wish I would have known there was speakers in the ears. Makes it very tight. Should have ordered a larger size"

Gary P. (2/5)

Try it before you buy it.

"Bought the helmet same size as my other 509 helmet. Apparently they downsized the helmet. Doesn’t fit well and uncomfortable. That’s after you get it on which hard to do. Getting it off and not ripping your ears off is a whole other feat of terror. Besides that I don’t see an offer of a chin curtain which would be nice. Cardo seems to work well but the sound is awful. I have Cardo in another helmet and sounds great. Speakers in this helmet are too far from your ears. I have torn it up and modified it to be tolerable to wear while I wait for a new shield for my old helmet so returning it isn’t a good option."

Jim G. (1/5)

Disappointing

"What a disappointment. Ordered 2 of these, one for me and my girlfriend. Positive is communicator is clear and speakers for music sound good. Everything else about the helmet is a complete miss. It’s extremely cold with air leaking in all over. There are vent holes on either side of your cheeks for whatever reason, and all they do is make a bunch of wind noise. Heated shield works sometimes, not all the time. Also way too complicated. A bunch of buttons and can’t really control anything with gloves on. Helmet was cold and tons of wind noise, shouldn’t happen for the price point. They got the speakers and communication right but missed on the basic functionality of a warm and quiet helmet."

Mic problems

"Helmet is awesome but both mine and my dad’s microphone stopped working after the first ride with them. I’d like some help on this. Otherwise stayed warm and pretty comfortable"

Hayden (3/5)

Love the pool and all

"Love the pool and all the features of this helmet especially the speakers"

Johnny G. (5/5)

Runs 2 sizes too small.

"If your regularly a large in any other helmet order this one in a 2 xl. Sending mine back for a second time. Third times a charm!"

Q&A

Does the Cardo system charge when plugged into the snowmobile's power source? Or is the plug only for the heated visor and the Cardo system works off the battery in the helmet?
Hey Kevin, the latter is correct - the plug to the sled powers the heated visor and the Cardo system works off the battery in the helmet.
Can you put a photochromic lense in it?
Hey Circaldo, yes we do offer a Photochromatic Clear to Lt Smoke Tint shield for the Delta V Carbon Commander Helmet. On our website, it is called the [Ignite Shield for Delta V Helmets](https://ride509.com/products/ignite-shield-for-delta-v-helmets?variant=40960373686357). Unfortunately we are currently out of stock on that shield tint but you can still sign up to be notified when we receive more inventory!
Hi. Saw you were sold out of the Carbon Commander - Black Ops - in 2XL (revised fit for 2024 needed Sept 5th 2024). Any plans to have additional inventory in prior to December?
Hey Mike, apologies for the delay! Unfortunately we will not be getting anymore in until next winter. Please check with your [local dealer](https://ride509.com/pages/dealer-locator) as they may have inventory in stock.
Will this system be able to talk with the mesh sena system in the ski doo vibe setup?
Hello! Yes it will!
How do you turn helmet off ?
Hey Darren! The helmet manual has images to help guide but essentially you'll press and hold the power and V button on the righthand side of the helmet for 2 seconds to power on or off.
